On October 27th, Theater de Regentes hosted the première of Ashtalaxmi & Bhavayami Raghuraman, celebrating Divali and marking a vibrant showcase of Bharatanatyam talent. The performance brought together semi-professional and advanced Bharatanatyam dancers from various dance schools across The Hague and the Kancheepuram Ellappa Bani tradition. Over two months, these dancers worked intensely under the guidance of Sitra Bonoo, Vidwan S.V. Giridhar, and Soniya Poduval to bring this intricate production to life.
The performers represented a range of esteemed schools, including Sri Vinayaka, Monsoon, Beyond Bharata Natyam, Vaari Nousha, and Pretima Ke Dewashrie, each adding their unique style and depth to the performance. The result was a memorable evening that highlighted the beauty and cultural richness of Bharatanatyam, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
